Though my path took many twists and turns to get me where I am today, making art has always been a part of how I experienced the world.
2003
“Lash Face”
An early self-portrait, this piece was created for a ceramics class in college, during a brief break from my acting major. I minored in Studio Art, but they did not make it easy, since the two departments were in different “schools” within the college. I hated the painting class I took while in Italy and came away from it convinced that I could never create any art that didn’t look like a childish cartoon version of what I saw in my mind. But I loved ceramics and photography, and they kept me from abandoning art all together.

Since 2008, I have identified as a mixed media artist because many of my pieces incorporate different mediums, a lot of which are found or upcycled objects. Many of the pieces are inspired by one of two things ~ either I have a desire to give a gift to someone I care about, and the ideas and execution flow from that, or I have an experience that inspires and moves me.

I wrote about this piece on the Collaborations page of my portfolio, because I created for a collaborative group project for Burning Man. The original was burned (on purpose) with the larger project. The image above is a restored photograph that I spent time in 2019 cleaning up and retouching.

“i ❤ LA“

In 2015, I started printing my i ❤ LA logo on upcycled Thomas Bros Guide maps of Los Angeles. In 2017, I created a blue heart version for Dodgers fans, and in 2019, I created a rainbow heart version for Pride month. I offer all three versions of the logo printed on tons of different items via society6! Check out my For You page for more information and links!
2014
“Vincent: Love Triumphs!”
A mural painted on giant butcher paper as a wedding present for two friends who got married in 2014. Their dog, Vincent, was a big part of their lives and featured prominently on their wedding invitation. I had originally planned to hang it on a dumpster right outside their venue (in reference to an inside joke about drinking champagne behind dumpsters), but because of the World Cup that year, the street was completely cleared and I couldn’t get a dumpster in New York City. So I taped it to the wall inside the venue, which was brick, which I wasn’t thrilled about. And then it almost got thrown away at the end of the night but was saved at the last minute by Bill Cromie, so to me this piece has a ton of importance. For its owners, who knows?

Space Cat Flight Control Panel Bar-Top
I built and painted this bar for Burning Man 2019, for a camp called Secret Passage. This one didn’t burn, so if you are ever at TTITD and come across their camp, you just might find this spaceship-themed bar! Here’s a picture of the bar inside our truck-turned-Spaceship, with LEDs designed and programmed by my boyfriend Mike:
