In the face of the devastating wildfires that impacted the Greater LA area in January 2025, I fought my feelings of helplessness and turned to action. In addition to collecting supplies to donate and dropping them off where needed, I decided to do what I love and fundraise to support those in the trenches, directly helping.
I chose Pasadena Humane Society, a nonprofit helping pets and wild animals impacted by the Eaton Fire in nearby Altadena. In addition to helping find fosters for evacuees who couldn’t take their pets with them, they have been providing rescue and medical care for pets who weren’t evacuated and for wild animals whose natural habitat turned deadly.
As pet parents, my husband and I feel strongly that pets are family members and we are so grateful there are orgs like PHS that stepped up to find temporary fosters when people were fleeing for their lives and losing their homes. The peace of mind that must give to survivors is a tremendous gift. On top of that, their rescue work, both during this emergency and the rest of the year, is the epitome of compassionate care.
Now, since I just did my normal holiday fundraiser in December for Project HOPE, I felt I just had to do something different for this fundraiser. Unprecedented times called for unprecedented measures. Hence the bake sale.

For the bake sale, I am offering shortbread Calico Cat cookies as well as Mixed Candied Citrus Peel, which is a truly delicious bit of nature’s candy if you’ve never tried it before!
Now, how do you get your hands on these delectable treats? Great question, and there are actually 4 possible ways- see the Flow Chart above! The options are: In-person donation, or online donation with Pick Up, Delivery or Shipping (US Only). The in-person donation is still through the online Just Giving campaign, but I plan to bring some goodies to work and social events and have folks use a QR code to donate.
Pick Up
If you live locally and want to come to Pick Up Day, I am currently planning to choose a central location (possibly Pasadena if the air quality is good enough) and commit to being there for several hours while folks come and go to pick up their orders. As of right now, my plan is to do that on Sunday January 26th.

There is no minimum order for Pick Up.
Delivery & Shipping
Delivery* will take place during the week of Monday January 27th – Sunday February 2nd. My hope is to minimize my carbon footprint by grouping deliveries by area. Expect to coordinate with me a bit so that I can make that happen.
If you plan on Delivery or Shipping, there is an additional charge the needs to be made separately from your donation. The Delivery Fee is $5 to cover gas, while Shipping Fees depend on quantities (weight). Please refer to the Shipping Fees image for more details.
There is a $10 minimum order for Delivery.
There is no minimum order for Shipping.

*Delivery is available in the following counties, with exceptions:
Los Angeles County (excluding the Antelope Valley/ Lancaster/ Palmdale region)
