After one of the most hectic summers I’ve had in years, the cooling temperatures bring with them a slowing down of activity. Not a full stoppage or anything near it, but turning down the metaphoric volume and giving myself the space and time to breathe.
Breathe and reflect. I’m now 10 months into my streaming journey and I still love it as much as I did after the first month, though in a different way. I now know what streaming can bring in to my life- the inspirations, the friends, the growths & challenges.
And I am here for it.
I have learned so much in what feels like such a short time! Here are some of the milestones with some relevant links:
- I made affiliate after 4 months and I’ve created 2 emotes so far! (Hoping to collaborate with a friend on the next ones to speed up the process)
- I created multiple artworks across several mediums, including:
- Embroidery (BAYC, Flower Crown Cat, Love Is Love & Clean Your Beans Cat- both still works in progress)
- Mixed-media (Sunset Champagne tin & Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) for Game of Shrooms)
- Newspaper Mosaic (Frida Kahlo’s ‘Broken Column’) Holy moly what a milestone! She’s finished!
- Watercolor (first project in the kit- can’t wait to try more in the coming months!)
- I taught myself how to edit videos and then graduated from a basic video editing software to a heftier program.
- My ability to use programs like Canva and Photopea/ Photoshop has grown exponentially.
- I have expanded my knowledge of art history & current art news and have shared that information with my viewers in a way that (hopefully) makes it accessible and entertaining.
- My next Art History 4U & Me is on Thursday October 6th, 2022 and we’ll be talking about psychedelic cat painter Louis Wain. Tune in at 5pm PT on twitch. It’s part of my current charity campaign…
- I’ve run 3 charity campaigns (with one for cat rescue currently running until October 7th, 2022), raising hundreds of dollars each time!
- I hosted 2 Artist Chats and want to do more! Calligrapher Maura Lynch taught us some introductory concepts and gave us tips on how to get started. Haikusters Milla, Mixi & Joe chatted with me about the book they published from our shared experiences in Milla’s long-running Facebook group, Haiku Wednesdays.
- I participated in the 2022 Frogtown Artwalk (and helped produce it), marking my second art show and the debut of Frida Kahlo’s ‘Broken Column’. Despite not being present at my table, I gave away a ton of stickers and pre-sold several prints!
There has been a lot more than this list- those are just a sampling of the highlights! With such a wide-ranging and deeply felt impact on me as an artist and as a person, I feel so lucky to have stumbled into this streaming thing. To say that it has transformed the whole direction of 2022 (or rather that it gave me the tools and permission to transform the direction 2022 took), is not an understatement!
I can’t wait to see what comes next. I hope you’ll join the artsy-farts as we continue this journey!
