Ruthfull’s Art Corner streams Mondays & Wednesdays on twitch!
Now that I have a full month (and some change) of streaming under my belt, I decided it was time to do a little reflection. After all, I had not realized how deep of a rabbit hole I was launching myself into and so deciding whether I could sustain the time commitment, energy & spoons to continue it seemed like a wise idea.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very much a “baby streamer” and will be for some time, even though I had more than six months’ experience as a virtual trivia host using the twitch and discord platforms prior to launching my own channel. And that’s fine with me… I seem to have found something I’m willing to suck at before I get good at it and, if I’m being honest, that is something I’m working on being better at. As I say constantly on my stream, “I’m a Work-In-Progress, folks, and aren’t we all, really?” #wip
I was very lucky early on when I came across an invaluable series of tutorials and advice videos made by long-time streamer, HeyShadyLady. Her vibe (and her cat, Toasty) made her seem like someone I could connect with/ relate to. She shares her own struggles in between useful tips, which in turn reinforced the idea that struggles are part of the process. There is So. Much. To. Learn. and it can be very overwhelming, as can reviewing the many bells & whistles that streams can have. One of my favorite take-aways from her videos is: “one step at a time”.
So far, I’ve created one Art History 4U & Me segment (“Slay the Patriarchy!”) and six Art News segments (two of which are already edited down and uploaded to YouTube). In addition to those, I’ve also done a number of Creativity Corner sessions that have been both helpful and somewhat triggering when facing down the Imposter Police, but I think the process is leading to growth as an artist, and what more could I ask for?
Editing the videos that result from each stream down into a viable Youtube video has been its own area of learning and growing for me, and I’m happy about taking on this challenge…
… even though it will remain to be seen how soon I can off-load that particular task to someone else. At least partly…
Next week I’ll have my first of hopefully many Artist Chats, where I’ll interview fellow artists and learn about their art. I’ll be featuring a talented friend, Maura Lynch, who is a calligrapher, and since it will be a live conversation, you can participate through the chat!
Wednesday, February 16th, at 3pm PT/ 6pm ET, we’ll go live on twitch, so if that sounds neat to you, check it out!
I do need help growing both the twitch and YouTube channels, so if you’re a fan and/ or supporter, please give me a follow/ like/ subscribe/ etc! Thanks, folks! It means a lot.

I hope to continue this for the foreseeable future. I can see how much it is stretching me, and I like it.
